Pasty Vending Machine in England Prompts Yoopers to Imagine What Could Be
A photo that was recently posted by a page dedicated to Upper Peninsula residents' love of pasties has sparked an interesting conversation.
Yooper Pasties posted a photo of a pasty vending machine that they say is located in St. Ives, Cornwall.
After doing a little bit of digging, I found that it was originally posted by a Facebook page called Cornish News - which is a satire/parody page. (The page talks a LOT about pasties, though.)
As a native Yooper, I can tell you that I would be JAZZED to see a pasty vending machine pop up, especially here in West Michigan.
The post by Yooper Pasties got pasty enthusiasts talking, pontificating about the perfect locations for vending machines filled with delectable meat pies.

There were some great suggestions, too. Let's check a few of them out.
Anywhere On The Michigan Tech Campus
Many suggested they specifically be put in the residence halls. But, why hide them away from the general public? I feel like Houghton could have a pasty vending machine on every street corner.
Anywhere on the Northern Michigan University Campus
Another college that popped up quite a few times in the comments was Northern Michigan University. I think I even found the perfect spot for one! You can get your picture taken by the wildcat statue and then grab a delicious pasty. Win-win!
By The Mackinac Bridge
One person just suggested "by the bridge" - which I took to mean the Mackinac Bridge. This is a genius idea, honestly, and I think I found the perfect spot. Set one up by the Michigan Welcome Center just north of the Mackinac Bridge toll booths.
Folks stop there all of the time anyway - and they can stretch their legs while enjoying a pasty.
You could also set one up at one of the many places you can take in beautiful views of the Mackinac Bridge - those things would sell like hot cakes (or hot pasties...)
Other Locations in Michigan Perfect For a Pasty Vending Machine
But, should we only have these vending machines full of meat and veggie stuffed pastry in the Upper Peninsula? I would vote "no". Many of us Yoopers have since moved out of God's Country and reside in other cities and towns in Michigan, or even out of state.
Calder Plaza in Grand Rapids, Michigan
La Grande Vitesse (known as "the Calder" to locals) is a true symbol of the City of Grand Rapids. Why not give people a delicious meal while they bask in its splendor?
Somewhere in Detroit, Michigan
There are a lot of Yooper natives who now call Detroit home. How great would it be for them to be able to get a taste of home every now and again? You can up the ante and feed the tourists if you put one by the Spirit of Detroit. I wonder if he prefers ketchup or gravy with his pasties?
Pasty Vending Machines in Other States?
Sure, why not? Some folks asked for them in Ohio, Arizona, Massachusetts, and Illinois. While I'm sure there are some Michigan transplants in those states, I don't know if I'm okay with sharing our pasties with the whole state of Ohio...
Sadly, all we can do for now is dream of a day when pasty vending machines become an actual thing. However, it seems that if someone were to take this business idea and run with it, they'd have a long line of eager paying customers.
