At this point, Kanye West's struggles with mental illness and suicide have been well documented, most recently on the intro track to his new Ye album, "I Thought About Killing You." On Friday afternoon (July 27), the rap star addressed the issue again after being inspired by a documentary on the life of British fashion designer Alexander McQueen.

"I saw the Alexander McQueen documentary and I connected with his journey," Yeezy tweeted. "I know how it feels to want to take your life back into your own hands even if it means taking your own life."

West made sure to let fans know he is currently in a good space and gave a step on how he stays there. "To make this clear and not weird I’ve had these kinds of thoughts and I’m going to tell you things I’ve done to stay in a content place," he added. "How to NOT kill yourself pt 1 Avoid being around people who make you want to kill yourself."

Being in the fashion industry himself, 'Ye was no doubt affected by the tragic death of McQueen. Having earned multiple British Designer of the Year awards, McQueen was a giant in fashion circles in the late 1990s and 2000s. Sadly, he committed suicide in 2010 at the age of 40. A new documentary titled McQueen was released about the late fashion icon in the U.K. on July 20.
