What are the Brilliance Awards?

Loren Eisenlohr, Marketing Director, Serendipity Media, and West Michigan Woman describes them as the 'Golden Globes' for West Michigan:

The Brilliance Awards are the Golden Globes of West Michigan. Except, instead of honoring celebrities, the Brilliance Awards recognize many amazing individuals who may not always be in the spotlight, but certainly deserve to have their stories told. West Michigan is a better place, a stronger community because of the women and men nominated for the Brilliance Awards. The event itself is full of pride and emotion, and in hearing the challenges and triumphs, everyone in the room leaves feeling joyous and motivated to make a difference.

LOOK: Milestones in women's history from the year you were born

Women have left marks on everything from entertainment and music to space exploration, athletics, and technology. Each passing year and new milestone makes it clear both how recent this history-making is in relation to the rest of the country, as well as how far we still need to go. The resulting timeline shows that women are constantly making history worthy of best-selling biographies and classroom textbooks; someone just needs to write about them.
