Looking for a Job? You Probably Won’t Find it in Detroit
A new year could mean new and better opportunities in your career!
If you're on the hunt for a new job the U.S.Bureau of Labor Statistics says now is the time to find something since the latest stats show that hiring is up in professional and business services, manufacturing, and health care.
However, according to a new survey done by WalletHub there are some cities where you'll have better luck than others in finding a job. The study compared 182 U.S. cities using different factors such as salary, unemployment rates, job security, benefits and more.
All in all, the best city to find a job is in Chandler, AZ. In fact, 4 out of the top 5 cities [in the study] are in Arizona. Shrevport, LA is the place where you're going to be the least successful, but right behind it is Detroit. Between its high unemployment rate, few job opportunities and the percentage of people living in poverty; Detroit came in at 181 out of 182.
But if you live in or are looking to relocate to Grand Rapids, your chances of finding a job are much better. A fast-growing city, GR placed at #43 which is definitely better than average and not surprising since it recently was named the fourth best city to start a career.
