Police are investigating after a man was shot and killed in southeast Grand Rapids Thursday night.

According to GRPD, dispatchers received several reports of gunshots in the area of Eastern Avenue SE and Oakdale Street SE. around 10:30p.m.

When police arrived they found an unresponsive adult male in a vehicle.  Despite life saving measures by the officers, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have not released the identity of the victim, pending confirmation and notification of the family.

GRPD says that while the man appeared appears to have suffered a gunshot wound, an autopsy will be scheduled and the Kent County Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.
