Grand Rapids Mayor Rosalynn Bliss joined us Thursday morning to surprise Fish and make a very special proclamation.

A little backstory - our dear friend Andy Rent from 100.5 The River talked to his friend Mayor Bliss following Connie's death, and together they decided that they wanted to honor Connie by proclaiming Connie Kellie Day in Grand Rapids.

Steve was in on the surprise, but Fish had no clue what was going to happen.

The Proclamation

So, what does the proclamation honoring our friend say?

WHEREAS, Connie Kellie was a beloved voice on the airwaves of Grand Rapids radio; and

WHEREAS, she worked to make Christmases a little brighter for West Michigan children in foster care every year through Connie & Fish’s Christmas Kids; and

WHEREAS, her infectious laugh put a smile on the face of everyone around her; and

WHEREAS, she paved the way for women in radio here in West Michigan and across the country;

WHEREAS, she passed away on January 4, 2021 and her loss has been felt by everyone whose life she touched;

WHEREAS, Connie had an incredible impact on our community that leaves a lasting legacy on our City - our community is a better place because of her passion, dedication and tireless work over the years;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Rosalynn Bliss, Mayor of the City of Grand Rapids, do hereby proclaim March 11, 2021 as
