Meet The 13 Michiganders Representing The USA At The Winter Olympics [Photos]
As a cold and northern state, we have put our fair share onto this year's US Winter Olympics Team that will compete in PyeongChang, South Korea beginning next Friday, February 9.
Her'es the breakdown of the Michigan members of Team USA:
You would think with the track in Muskegon, we would have a luger or two, but not this time around.
FIGURE SKATING (5)
Evan Bates and Madison Chock (ice dance) -- Evan (from Ann Arbor) and Madison (Novi) finished seventh in the World Championships last year, giving them an honest shot at a medal. They medaled at both the 2015 and 2016 worlds.
Madison Hubbell (ice dance) -- Madison, an Okemos native is paired with Zach Donohue and they stunned the figure skating world when they rallied from a 3.23 point deficit to win the US Championships.
Alex and Maia Shibutani (ice dance) -- A brother- sister team from Ann Arbor, they are Olympic veterans, having finished ninth in ice dance at the Sochi Olympics in 2014.
ICE HOCKEY (4)
Chad Billins (Marysville) -- A defenseman, Chad was a member of the first Ferris State team to make it to the Frozen Four in 2012. He was also a member of the Griffins Calder Cup team in 2013. He currently plays for Linkoping in the Swedish Hockey league.
Jim Slater (Lapeer) -- A forward and Michigan State grad, Slater has played with the Winnipeg Jets of the NHL. He currently plays in Switzerland for Fribourg-Gotteron.
James Wisniewski (Canton) -- A defensemen who is a veteran of both international play and the NHL, Wisniewski is playing this season in Germany for EC Kassel.
Megan Keller (Farmington) -- A defender in her fourth season of international play, Keller won a gold with Team USA last season at the World Championships. She played college hockey at Boston College.
SNOWBOARDING (2)
Kyle Mack (Royal Oak) -- Kyle will be competing in three disciplines with Team USA: the Half Pipe, Slopestyle and Big Air. Mack won the Burton US Open in 2016, the first American to do so since 2011.
Nick Baumgartner (Iron River) -- The lone Yooper on Team USA, Baumgartner is an 11-year vet of Snowboardcross, and has won medals at the X Games and in the summer event of Super Truck Racing. He was also an All-State football player in high school.

SHORT TRACK SPEED SKATING (2)
Ryan Pivirotto (Ann Arbor) -- Pivirotto squeaked onto this year's team with a fifth place finish in the 1000 meter event at the recent US National Team Trials.
Jessica Kooreman (Melvindale) -- Kooreman, a ten year veteran of international competition, was on the team for the 2014 Games in Sochi where she finsished just out of the medals with a fourth in the 1000 meter race. She survived a fall in the 1000 meter final at the Olympic Trials to hang on for second place and clinch a spot on this year's team.
