Michigan City Named Best Lake Beach Town To Live In America

Michigan is home to dozens of picturesque beach towns throughout the state, but only one was named the best in the nation.

Our friends at WalletHub put together a list of 2021's Best Beach Towns To Live In and Traverse City was named the best lake beach town to live in.  A total of 46 towns made the list of the best lake beach towns, including a total of 4 Michigan cities.  In addition to Traverse City taking the top spot, Alpen, Holland, and Port Huron all appeared on the list.

It is a little bit surprising that more Michigan cities didn't appear on the list.  It seems like Grand Haven, Muskegon, South Haven, Holland, Saugatuck, or maybe Ludington would make the list too.  But, maybe they didn't want to stack the list with beautiful towns on Lake Michigan.

WalletHub also found some interesting facts about a few of the Michigan towns that made the list.  Alpena has the 4th lowest housing cost among the lake beach towns surveyed and the highest percentage of for-sale waterfront homes. Port Huron has the 3rd lowest water temperature among the towns surveyed. Traverse City has the most nightlife establishments per capita and is tied with Holland for the most restaurants and coffee shops per capita.
