Michigan Golfer Breaks Record After Playing 360 Holes In One Day
A man from Kalamazoo just broke a Michigan golfing record and was able to raise money for a great cause while doing it.
Eric Dougal had a goal of playing 324 holes to break the old record for most holes of golf played in a single marathon in Michigan which was 300 holes. He was able to surpass that number and played an impressive 360 holes.
How Did Eric Dougal Break The Michigan Golfing Record?
There was a lot of planning that had to go into this recorded breaking attempt. Golfing from the early morning until sunset sounds hard enough but what about the hours in the day when it's dark out?
Eric had a plan for that. He arrived at the Kalamazoo County Golf Course nice and early Monday morning at 3:30 am. He started playing in the dark thanks to the help of glow-in-the-dark golf balls. He also used glowsticks to see and had four caddies on hand to constantly give him the golf club he needed. The last and possibly most important thing finally he had was a designated golf cart driver that took him from shot to shot and hole to hole during the marathon session.

Why Did Eric Dougal Do This?
According to WWMT 3, Dougal's goal was to bring awareness to the work being done by First Tee West Michigan in providing kids with accessibility and scholarships through golf. The money he raised before the event was enough to cover 400 hours of programming for students on scholarship. In total $12,000 was raised by the time he finished his 20th round of the day just after 8:00 pm Monday night.
