Michigan Hair Salon

Located in Traverse City, Studio 8 Hair Lab and its owner Christine Geiger made a wild statement on the company's Facebook page.

In a now-deleted Facebook post, Studio 8 Hair Lab stated that

"If a human identifies as anything other than a man/woman please seek services at a local pet groomer. You are not welcome at this salon. Period. Should you request to have a particular pronoun used please note we may simply refer to you as 'hey you.'"

Absolutely disgusting!

Unfortunately, it gets worse!!

In order to justify their actions, they are disregarding MI HB 4744 and snarkily thanked Governor Whitmer.

Another Facebook user posted the message from the salon to Overheard in Traverse City's Facebook group.

Once Christine Geiger, the owner of Studio 8 Hair Lab saw the post, she responded with the following.

Geiger continued to encourage those who do not like her beliefs and thoughts to seek out other salons that are

"willing to cater to what (she) will not."

According to 9 and 10 News, when they reached out to Christine, she shared that

"she has no problem with the LGB part, it's the TQ+ that she doesn't support. Gieger said she is taking a stand against being forced to use preferred pronouns, such as they/them, he/him, and she/her."

Geiger continues on in her post by saying,

"For those that don’t know what the + is for, it’s for MAP (Minor Attracted Person aka: pedophile).”

MI HB 4744

In 2022, Michigan's Supreme Court voted to expand the Elliot-Larsen Civil Rights Act, which is aimed to protect members of the LGBTQIA+ community from discrimination within employment, public services, housing, education, etc.

However, as of June 30th, the U.S. Supreme decided to allow a Denver web designer to refuse to create websites for same-sex weddings.

This may have influenced Geiger's decision to openly share her piece.
