Michigan has had some standout license plates over the years, and one of them is coming back.

Who can forget the Bicentennial license plate from 1976 with the red, white, and blue that looked similar to the American flag? Definitely a favorite for many Michiganders including myself.

There is another license plate from back in 1965 that has been a favorite for collectors as well as the residents of the Great Lakes State and that's the "Water-Winter Wonderland" license plate.

FOX 17 reported that the iconic blue plate is making a comeback thanks to Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson. "I am proud to give Michiganders back a longtime favorite license plate that also marks a critical moment in the history of our nation's democracy," Benson said. "In 1965, we worked together as a nation to protect and advance voting rights in pursuit of a more perfect union, just as today we must come together as a nonpartisan, pro-democracy coalition to protect and advance our elections."

If you want to get one of the "Water-Winter Wonderland" plates on your vehicle, they are available to order now online. You can also request one when you buy a new vehicle through your dealership or a Secretary of State office.

You can even get the vintage plate personalized but since the font of the plate is bigger than current plates you are limited to six digits.

There were actually two versions of the "Water-Winter Wonderland" license plates. Obviously the like the one in the picture above, and another that was white with blue lettering. Both of these plates have been highly sought after by collectors but the white with blue lettering seems to be the most valuable since they are the hardest to find.

Only the blue with the yellow lettering will be available at this time. These new classic plates will only cost $5 more than the regular plate issued by the state.
