What Is Michigan's Current Minimum Wage?

As of now, Michigan's current minimum wage is $10.10.

Due to Michigan's Improved Workforce Opportunity Wage Act of 2018, the minimum wage be increased every single year unless the unemployment rate is higher than 8.5%.

As of right now, the U.S. Department of Labor says that the federal minimum wage is $7.25 per hour.

In my personal opinion, that is incredibly disgusting.

When Is The Minimum Wage Raising In Michigan?

Michigan's minimum wage is set to increase on January 1st, 2024.

The Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity shared that the statewide minimum wage will increase from $10.10 to $10.33 per hour.

Besides that increase, there is an additional minimum wage increase for minors ages 16 and 17.

CBS News shared that,

In addition, starting Jan. 1, the 85% of the minimum hourly wage rate for minors ages 16 and 17 will increase to $8.78 per hour. The tipped employee rate for hourly pay will increase to $3.93 per hour.

Other states are also in the process of raising their minimum wage.

In New York City and the counties of Nassau, Suffolk, and Westchester, New York, minimum wage will increase to $16. The rest of the state will be increasing to $15.

I would love to see Michigan's minimum wage rise to at least $16 per hour.
