If you are looking for a more affordable place to live in Grand Rapids, a new apartment complex is on its way for low income families.

According to Fox 17, a new non profit housing development, The Dwelling Place, has broken ground in Grand Rapids to help families in need of housing.

The Dwelling Place is a $13 million project that will be erected at 1400 Alpine Avenue NW.

There will 45 two and three bedroom apartments that will become available. Also going into the building will be some commercial work areas and some live/work areas.

If you are interested in applying for one of the apartments, you will have to making less than 60% of the area's middle income in order to qualify for this new housing opportunity.

The groundbreaking ceremony will happen Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Dwelling Place. Grand Rapids Mayor Rosalynn Bliss,the Grand Rapids Community Foundation and several other community members will be hosting the ceremony.
