Newaygo County is 847 square miles of paradise. Whether it's camping, boating, fishing, hiking, biking, snowmobiling, kayaking, or swimming, you name it, the possibilities are endless year-round.
With gas prices being outrageous, Newaygo County can provide an affordable destination with lots to do for the whole family.
Hardy-Croton Dams
The Hardy and Croton hydroelectric dams are centerpieces of what Newaygo County has to offer a family that wants to get away and be not too far from home.
The Hardy Dam is not as accessible as the Croton Dam but when standing on top of it, the view is amazing in every direction. Plus when on the top you can see the Hardy Pond which has campgrounds and boat landings all around the 50 miles of shoreline.
The Croton Dam is a fisherman's paradise as it feeds the Muskegon River. You can catch just about every species of fish Michigan has to offer at the dam and down the Muskegon River that eventually empties into Lake Michigan.
