Ohio & Michigan Rivalry Continues With F-16 and Full Fuel Tanks
The Michigan versus Ohio rivalry may have just gotten worse.
Have you heard about the tanks that were dropped in Michigan?
Well, you can thank Ohio for that.
How Did Ohio "Bomb" Michigan?
The Ohio National Guard completed their flight training and drills earlier this week when things went wrong.
A Toledo-based F-15 fighter jet announced that it was in distress to the proper channels. However, there was another F-16 fighter jet with it, and they did not report having any issues.
Interesting...
While both fighter jets landed safely back in Toledo despite the distress call, they did DROP a "present" over Michigan.
Iosco County deputies stated that the fighter jet dropped both fuel tanks before returning to the Toledo base.
You may be wondering where these fuel tanks dropped. One of the fuel tanks caught on fire in a parking lot near East Tawas. This parking lot has a Tractor Supply, Sav-A-Lot, and a Michigan Secretary of State location. It also ended up damaging a few vehicles.
What happened to the other tank? It landed in Lake Huron, where it EXPLODED!
According to the sheriff's office, no one was hurt in either situation. The water rescue teams were initially called because they did not know if a plane or pilot were thrown into the water.
After their realization, the U.S. Coast Guard did recover part of the fuel tank from Lake Huron.
Yes, while I know this seems to be an accident. With all of the back and forth between Ohio and Michigan, one could be convinced that this would add to the never-ending rivalry.
