Does Ohio REALLY Have A Better Housing Market Than Michigan?
Zillow announced this year's hottest major housing market list.
Michigan was snubbed! But do you know what state made the list MULTIPLE TIMES?!
Ohio! How dare!
Does Ohio REALLY Have A Better Housing Market Than Michigan?
This is unbelievable!
3 Ohio cities are placed on this list. There is not a single Michigan city in sight.
Zillow shared why these Ohio cities were added to the list.
"New jobs often mean new residents, which increases competition and drives prices up unless new construction can match that additional demand. Inventory is moving extremely quickly in Cincinnati, and Columbus is home to the fastest expected rise in owner-occupied households, an indication of family formation and population growth."
They did acknowledge that competition for housing in the Midwest is affordable.
"Affordability should improve in 2024, but it is still going to be the biggest driver of the housing market. Competition for homes is already high in affordable Great Lakes and Midwest markets. Homes listed in these areas tend to go under contract faster than the national average."
How Is The Housing Market In Michigan Right Now?
Well according to Houzeo, it is not doing the best.
"Sluggish! Home values in Michigan rose by 38.9% in the last 5 years. But, home sales decreased by 19.0% in September 2023 YoY. Maybe due to the mortgage rate climbing to a two-decade high of nearly 8%! And the number of houses for sale in MI was 33,998 in the month, 14% less than in 2022. Michigan’s housing market is bearish."
Ugh!
