Police Chase in Berrien County Leaves 3 Dead
A police chase in Berrien County unfortunately ended in a crash on Sunday killing three people and critically injuring a fourth.
According to WOOD TV, the Black Arsenal Gun Store was broken into in the 5 a.m. hour in Lincoln Township. An SUV that matched the description linked to the break in was spotted on eastbound I-94 near 5:30 a.m.
A deputy attempted to pull over the SUV but as the vehicle began to slow down and stop, the driver then sped off. The deputy then gave chase.
The SUV exited I-94 at M-139 and headed toward Scottsdale. The driver lost control of the vehicle and hit a large tree. Three of the four passengers in the vehicle died at the scene while one person was taken to a hospital.
The three passengers that were killed were all from Benton Harbor. The people killed were later identified as 20-year-old driver Jamahri Jayshaun and passengers 17-year-old Davion Marquez Patton and 17-year-old Allan Trevon-James Velox.
The injured passenger was also from Benton Harbor and he was identified a 17-year-old Anton Duran Morgan who is critical condition at a Grand Rapids hospital.
The sheriff's office says 5 rifles, 3 pistols and a shotgun were stolen from Black Arsenal Gus Store.
The sheriff deputies that were involved in the incident are on paid administrative leave while the case is under investigation.
