If you were one of the lucky ones to fly out of Grand Rapids during spring break, then you were a part of making airport history.

According to FOX 17, Gerald R. Ford International Airport in Grand Rapids had its busiest month in the history of the airport during Spring Break breaking all previous travel records.

Compared to 2018, the airport saw a 10% increase for 2019.

Last year the airport had 298,487 passengers but this year Spring Break had 341,534 pass through its gates.

2019's whole first quarter has seen a huge increase in activity with 871,710 flying in and out of Grand Rapids.

Phase 2 of GRR's Gateway Transformation Project has begun and this will include updating the airline ticket counters, baggage claim area, flooring and lighting and brand new concessions and bathrooms.
