Rick Ross Takes Shots at Birdman on ‘Idols Become Rivals’

Another day, another rap beef. The latest rift is between two rap moguls - Rick Ross and Birdman. According to Complex, Rozay has a new track called “Idols Become Rivals” where he aims his vitriol at the Cash Money CEO.

Produced by Black Metaphor, the track opens with a spoken word intro from Chris Rock before the Miami boss goes in and airs out his grievances with Birdman. Judging by the verses, it appears the Maybach Music Group honcho is not happy with how Birdman is treating Lil Wayne. As you may know, they are both embroiled in a long-standing legal battle.

"Damn Stunna I love you n----, hate it came to this," spits Ross, adding, "I used to look up to you, n----."

Elsewhere, Ross mentions that Birdman stays in people's pockets "by the time we could count to five." He then adds, "Catholic record labels n----s getting raped boy, Birdman's a priest."

Complex reports that "Idols Become Rivals" samples Jay Z's Dynasty track, "Where Have You Been."

In an interview with Billboard, Ross described the song as an open letter to a person he once admired.

“I’ve got a record titled ‘Idols Become Rivals’ and it’s basically me writing a letter to someone in the game that I looked up to damn near the most and I hate what things have come to," he said.

The song will appear on Rick Ross' new album, Better You Than Me, which hits digitally on Friday (March 17).
