Seven Steps Up in Spring Lake is Shutting Down

Seven Steps Up in downtown Spring Lake shared news of the venue's closure to social media, saying:

We have been so honored and humbled to share the music and experiences. This is absolutely one of the most difficult decisions and heart wrenching decisions we have ever had to make.

 

Seven Steps Up owners Gary Hanks-Carpenter and and Michelle Hanks say that all the concerts that are currently up for sale will still happen. December 10, 2022 show is the last concert listed on the venue's website.

In addition to concerts, Seven Steps Up also serves as a banquet and event center, hosting wedding receptions, corporate seminars, fundraisers, and more.

Seven Steps Up, Once A Masonic Temple, On Market For $925K

The historic, solid brick building at 116 S. Jackson St. was originally a Masonic Temple built in 1919.

The landmark is located in a prime spot downtown Spring Lake, close to shops and restaurants, surrounded by the Grand River, and just a few miles from Lake Michigan.

The main floor and lower level has been renovated into an event and performance space. According to the listing, "This property boasts beautiful exposed brick, original hardwood floors, and so many unique features." Some of those features include a full walkout basement with large windows, walk in freezer, meal prep kitchen, and multiple fireplaces.

After 11 years in operation, Seven Steps Up concert and event venue in Spring Lake, Mich., is shutting its doors. The historic building, built as a Masonic Temple in 1919, is on the market for $925,000. The 7,200 square-foot building includes a renovated event space, exposed brick, original hardwood floors, and an upper level loft currently used as a residence.
