Tamar Braxton Is Retiring to Save Her Marriage: ‘Protect What’s Important’ [VIDEO]
Tamar Braxton will release her final album, Bluebird of Happiness, this Friday (Sept. 29). And yes, it will be her last.
The R&B singer is retiring from the music game after an illustrious career of entertaining fans. In an interview with ETOnline, Braxton was asked why is she stepping away from the microphone.
“There are a lot of things that I want to do, and a lot of things that are in the works,” she said. “There’s a lot of things that are going on in my relationship and me being close to this music industry, and whatever I can do to eliminate all of the stress and problems off of my relationship, I would rather do that -- protect what's important.”
“My husband [music executive Vince Herbert] and I work very close together and it’s really hard, you know?” she continued. “Not only do we work together, he is my baby daddy and, you know, we’ve been together forever. He’s my best friend. It’s a lot of things to discuss and argue about.”
Braxton added that her marriage has always been most important in her life. "It's important to be a good wife and a good mother," she said. "This is just my job (singing). When I go home, it's my sanctuary. So I want to keep it safe for me, my husband and my kid.
Now that Braxton will have some free time on her hands, she wants to focus on raising her son, Logan, and possibly having more kids.
“I’m so mad at myself, because I wanted the Partridge Family and I didn’t know it until, you know, Logan got to be a certain age,” she said. “I’m like, what? Yeah, I really want more kids. I would love to have at least five.”
Tamar Braxton's Bluebird of Happiness is available for pre-order now on iTunes.
