The Best Attractions To Take Out of Town Visitors to in West Michigan [Ranked]
Who doesn't love when family and friends come to visit?
This past weekend, my mother took a trip from Washington, D.C., to visit me since I have settled officially in Grand Rapids.
Since she only had a few days here, a lot of things I wanted to do with her were cut.
However, these are the places that I took her to or would've taken her to if I had more time.
Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park
This was one of the first places that I had to take my mom when she visited Grand Rapids.
Ever since we went to the Dubai Miracle Garden, I knew that we had to see the Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park.
While we were there, we enthusiastically ran through all of the exhibits, especially the one by Yinka Shonibare.
As I was walking through the sculpture gardens captivated by all of the arts and flora around me, this one quote popped into my head.
"A visit to the museum is a search for beauty, truth & meaning in our lives. Go to the museum as often as you can."
I completely agree.
John Ball Zoo
If my mom had a little more time here, I would have taken her to see the John Ball Zoo.
It is quite ironic that I would take her here since she is not a big fan of animals.

However, I feel as though it would be a great experience for us to share together, especially since they are about to start their Wizarding Night tonight.
Grand Haven Beach
The lakeshore at Grand Haven was the first place that my mother and I stopped by once I moved to Grand Rapids.
As lovers of the beach, you can always find us sitting out by the water with a good book and drink in hand. We went to Grand Haven, specifically for the Pronto Pups.
Since we are not big fans of corn dogs, it surprised us that there was one that we actually enjoyed.

We even went back for seconds!
Grand Rapids Downtown Market
This may be a weird statement but the Grand Rapids Downtown Market reminds me of home.
Since the market is a similar structure and idea to the one in D.C., I had to take my mom to experience it.
I also had her try the great food options within the Grand Rapids Downtown Market.
The B.O.B.
With the re-opening of the beloved B.O.B., it was only right to squeeze in some time to visit.
Ever since the grand opening, The B.O.B. has been packed for good reasons.
I was surprisingly shocked that weren't that many people there when my mother and I decided to visit.

Once we drank to our hearts' desires, we went back to my apartment after a successful weekend.
