The Grand Rapids Restaurants Where I Always Eat
The Grand Rapids-area has some of the best food around. We all know this. But even though there are lots of restaurants to choose from, we all have our go-to's.
Being a certified foodie, I love trying new places but I find myself frequenting these specific eateries a little more than others:
Okay it’s not a restaurant per say but SO.MUCH.FOOD! And whether you choose to get sushi, Thai, pizza, ice cream... it's ALL going to be delicious! You can make a whole day out of food hopping from one place to the next. I also recommend the Social Kitchen for a Sunday Funday.
Hands down this has been my favorite place to get breakfast since I moved to GR 3 years ago. The freshly-squeezed orange juice is enough reason to keep going back.
Sushi burritos... need I say more?!
First off, the amount of local Mexican restaurants in the area is unbelievable, but Cinco is right across where I work so it’s almost become a tradition for a few of us to get tacos on Friday night after a long week. But we keep going back because it’s delicioso and the restaurant is so inviting with their brightly-colored walls and booths. You’re getting authentic Mexican food at a good price plus the beers are always served in ice cold mugs!
Honorable Mentions:
I don't frequent these places as much as the previously mentioned but enough that they deserve a shout out
- Stella’s Lounge: anytime I’m craving a burger I immediately want Stella’s. And it’s one of my favorite places to take out-of-towners. No matter what, you’re guaranteed to have a good time at this retro bar.
- Bar Louie: I know it’s a chain but it’s so convenient to those of us who live on the SE side of town. Located at Woodland Mall, Bar Louie has great food, awesome martinis and some of the best specials throughout the week, including $1 burgers on Tuesday's and daily happy hour specials. And now that the weather is nice, their patio is one of my favorite places to hang out.
- Freshii: another chain but if you‘re looking for something filling that you won’t regret afterward, Freshii is a great option. It’s one of my go-to’s when I want a quick and tasty lunch.
Obviously, some of this is based on where I work and live but I stand by each establishment.
