This Michigan City Was Named One Of The Best For Homebodies

You're either one of two types of people: You either love going out, socializing and working in a group setting. Or, you find yourself happiest at home enjoying the quiet and solitude of being alone.

While lots of cities brag about their nightlife, fun activities and reasons to get out and explore, what about the cities that are better for the more quiet and reserved type of person?

The website Joybird compiled a list of cities in the US based on 11 points of measurement for their compatibility for people who would like to work from home, or just be home a majority of time. Some of the measurements of the survey included: internet speed, cost of rent to income ratio, down to the less obvious details like "how many homes have a private pool". (because lets be honest, the ultimate homebody finds a way to enjoy the best of the outside home inside of their own four walls.)

Some of the top cities in the US include:

1. Raleigh, NC

Raleigh is perfect for homebodies because of their high internet speed, low theft rates, and large amount of work from home positions that are available. So if you're looking for a city that still has a beach like the ones at Lake Michigan nearby, this may be a great option for you.

2. Tampa, Fl

Sure, everyone wants to live in a tropical place that's worthy of a vacation. Tampa stands above the rest due to their high number of private at home pools, high number of grocery delivery options, and their larger, more affordable homes.

3. Nashville, TN

Nashville may be known for it's loud country music bar scene and great nightlife, but it's also great for people who want to entirely avoid the crowds as well. Not only do they offer high internet speeds and a great income-to-home price ratio, they also have bigger yards on average so you can still enjoy outside without actually dealing with all of those people outside.

Detroit was the only Michigan city to make the top 50 list, and while you may have not considered it a great work from home destination, it's got a few perks if you're looking to stay inside most of the time including...

If you're spending a lot of time at home for work or pleasure, internet speed is key. Detroit's average internet speed is 116 mb/s, which is above average compared to the rest of the state

Low Cost of Rent

Did you know it costs around the same amount of money to live in Detroit as it does Grand Rapids? The average rent cost is around $1400, which gives you a little more city for your cost comparatively, even if you don't plan to use it often.

Large Number of Work From Home Jobs

Want to work in Detroit while skipping the parking or commute? You're in luck, the city has over 100k remote jobs available as of April 2022, so it's a recluses dream city if you'd rather avoid working in a cubicle farm.
