This Tasty New Item From Wahlburgers Features Michigan Cherries
If I didn't know better, I'd think that the Wahlberg family loves Michigan almost as much as they love their home state of Massachusetts.
Just in June alone, Paul came to Grand Rapids to visit our very own Wahlburger location downtown across from Van Andel, then later in the month Donnie visited when New Kids on the Block brought their Mixtape Tour to Michigan not once, but three times in three separate cities.
If that was enough love for the Mitten state, we can now see their love for everything Pure Michigan with the upcoming latest addition to their menu nationwide.
Michigan's own LaCross Cherry farm has teamed up with Wahlburger's at home brand, Wahlburger at home, to create a plant based burger featuring cherries from the farm.
LaCross Cherry Farms manager Ben LaCross is proud of the partnership and what it means for his farm and other Cherry Farmers across Michigan.
"We see this as being an opportunity to leverage their celebrity influence for the good of the cherry industry, but also to help move a product that they’re very proud of."
What does a cherry burger taste like?
If you're nervous about trying a burger that tastes like cherry, you can rest easy knowing that the cherry is there, but not effecting the taste of the burger. They say the cherry helps with the blend, but doesn't make it extremely sweet or weird flavored.
Where can you get these burgers in Michigan?
The patties are available at most SpartanNash stores in Michigan, but if you leave the state you'll only be able to find them at Roche Brothers market in Massachusetts, where Wahlburgers is based.
They would like to see them nationwide eventually, but the folks at LaCross Farms are just excited the burgers are out in time to enjoy for the Cherry Festival.
