Urgent: Michiganders Warned Not To Travel To These Places
I know you want to travel all summer long.
However,
What places should you not travel to this summer?
Michiganders should avoid traveling to several places because there are threats of detainment, violence, and even death!
The U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Consular Affairs has issued dire warnings related to international travel.
International travel advisories have been issued for the following countries.
Venezuela
Venezuela has been hit with a 'Do Not Travel' advisory.
The U.S. Department Of State, Bureau of Consular Affairs stated that you should not "travel to Venezuela due to crime, civil unrest, kidnapping, and the arbitrary enforcement of local laws. Reconsider travel due to wrongful detentions, terrorism, and poor health infrastructure."
This also affects all diplomatic personnel, who were all withdrawn from the country because of the abovementioned threats. If Michiganders are found in this country, they could be unlawfully detained for as long as five years.
Iraq
Iraq has also been deemed with a 'Do Not Travel' advisory.
The U.S. Department Of State, Bureau of Consular Affairs says,
"Do not travel to Iraq due to terrorism, kidnapping, armed conflict, civil unrest, and Mission Iraq’s limited capacity to provide support to U.S. citizens."
The potential risk for violence and kidnappings is high right now. So the government is stating that Michiganders should not travel there.
The Republic Of Haiti
The U.S. Department Of State, Bureau of Consular Affairs says,
"Do not travel to Haiti due to kidnapping, crime, civil unrest, and poor health care infrastructure. On July 27, 2023, the Department of State ordered the departure of family members of U.S. government employees and non-emergency U.S. government employees."
Haiti is under a 'Do Not Travel' advisory due to widespread kidnappings that Michiganders could be at risk for.
New Caledonia
Soon, you may not be able to travel to New Caledonia. New Caledonia is officially under a "Reconsider Travel" advisory because the French Government declared a state of emergency on May 15th, 2024 due to the ongoing electoral reform riots.
The U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Consular Affairs says,
"Protests, demonstrations, tire burning, and roadblocks are frequent, unpredictable, and have turned violent."
If you still choose to travel to New Caledonia, you should always avoid crowds and be aware of your surroundings.
