Construction season is starting to draw to a close, but that doesn't mean that the Michigan Department of Transportation is done slowing your commute down.

Each weekend between now and September 20th (we will see if it actually ends on time) expect lane closures on M-6 between Kalamazoo Avenue and M-37 (Broadmoor Avenue).  The left lanes of both eastbound and westbound M-6 will be closed each weekend beginning Saturday mornings at 5am and lasting through Monday mornings at 6am.

According to an article by MLive.com, "the $1.7 million project includes work to repair concrete pavement, replace joints, resurface the shoulder and improve drainage."

The improvement to the road is expected to increase safety for drivers and increase the life expectancy of the road.

Like we mentioned earlier, the construction is expected to be finished on September 20th, but if it ends up being anything like the construction on I-196 in downtown Grand Rapids, add an extra month or two to the expected completion date.

You can stay up to date with all of the current and upcoming construction projects in Michigan using the Michigan Department of Transportation's Interactive MI Drive Map.
