Holland-based Coppercraft Distillery has partnered with the Detroit Lions on a new, limited-edition, premium canned cocktail: Honolulu Blue.
And it's actually blue! Coppercraft says the blue raspberry lemonade and vodka-based cocktail pays tribute to the history of the NFL franchise both in name and with its "striking color".
Brian Mucci, CEO of Coppercraft Distillery, says,
We’re excited to offer the perfect tribute to ever-faithful Lions fans in the Motor City and across Michigan. Our team is grateful for the opportunity to partner with the Detroit Lions franchise on this special release and to continue crafting spirits with widespread appeal among sports fans everywhere.
Where to Get the New Honolulu Blue Canned Cocktail
Honolulu Blue is Coppercraft's 8th ready-to-drink beverage. You'll be able to buy it at select Michigan retailers, at Coppercraft Distillery’s tasting rooms in Holland and Saugatuck, and right at Ford Field in Detroit!
Coppercraft has been an Official Partner of the Detroit Lions since 2019. Its spirits and canned cocktail drinks are served at the six Coppercraft-branded bar locations within Ford Field.
More on Coppercraft Distillery
Coppercraft Distillery was founded in Holland in 2012 with the aim of creating premium spirits "built upon the legacy of industrious Michigan workers who created quality goods and exported their handiwork across the nation."
The company's award- winning, small-batch spirits include whiskeys, bourbon, gin, vodka, citrus vodka, and rum.
In 2016, Coppercraft expanded and opened a tasting room in Saugatuck.
This year, Coppercraft took home Double Gold for its Straight Bourbon Whiskey and Gold for its Gin at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. Coppercraft Rye Whiskey was also recognized at the New York International Spirits Competition with a Gold medal.
The History of Honolulu Blue
One of the Detroit Lions’ official team colors, Honolulu Blue was developed for former owner George Albert Richards. Richards bought the Portsmouth Spartans football team in 1934 and moved from it from Ohio to Detroit, renaming the franchise the Detroit Lions. Honolulu Blue was inspired by the waves off the coast of Hawaii and was chosen by Richards and Glenn Presnell, a member of the first Detroit Lions team.
