I understand teaching your child a lesson but this definitely isn't the way to go about it.

A 36-year-old woman appeared at the Kent County courthouse last Thursday where she was sentenced to 30 days in jail and five years probation after pleading guilty to running over her 9-year-old son with her car. The incident occurred this past December when she dropped her son off at his school in Belmont. Not wanting to go to school, he ran back to the car in the parking lot. But when he didn't go back in the building like his mother told him to, she drove off...while he was holding on to the door handle. The whole thing was caught on surveillance footage.

According to MLive, the woman drove for 47 yards before her son "lost his grip and fell under a back tire" resulting in various injuries, including to his brain, which left the boy in a coma for a week. Even doctors said he's lucky to be alive but unfortunately will have life-long disabilities.

The mother told the judge she was "remorseful" however he said her actions were "simply inexcusable." She will serve her 30 days on the weekends so she can take care of her son while he's recovering. A custody case is currently pending in family court.
