What started off as a silly lawsuit has actually turned into a pay day for a West Michigan man.

It was over a year ago when a man made headlines for suing his parents for throwing out his porn collection. Notice I said man... not a teenager. The now 42-year-old man had moved back in with his parents in Grand Haven after getting a divorce in 2016. Less than a year later he moved to Indiana and when his parents drove down to bring his stuff they forgot something very important to their son... his extensive porn collection. And when I say extensive I mean almost $30,000 worth! I'm going to give this guy the benefit of the doubt and assume this is stuff he's saved over the years... before the internet made adult content easily accessible.

After finding out that his parents threw away all 12 of his boxes, the nympho filed a lawsuit with the state's federal court. Finally, the matter has been resolved and a U.S. District Judge in Kalamazoo ruled in the son's favor.

MLive reports the man and his lawyer have until February to submit a written statement with an estimate of the damages, which is expected to be around $25,000. His attorney said they are also going to ask for "treble damages." Dependent on the case, a person can be awarded three times the amount they're already entitled to (via Legal Match). So in this case, if awarded, the plaintiff is looking at a payout of $75K!!

The man's lawyer told MLive this goes beyond the headlines of x-rated videos.

This was a collection of often irreplaceable items and property.

The parents never denied destroying their son's property so the judge didn't grant their request for dismissal. They say they did it for their son's own good.

I think my favorite part about this entire case is that the judge described this man's collection as

a trove of pornography and an array of sex toys.

Two questions;

  1. What do you think the chances are that he spends all of his winnings on porn again?
  2. How awkward do you think the holidays are with this family? Assuming they still spend the holidays together...
