West Michigan Meijer Employee Tests Positive for COVID-19
Meijer has confirmed to our news partners at FOX 17 that an employee at the Cedar Springs Meijer has tested positive for COVID-19.
The name of the employee (and all other identifying factors) have not been revealed, but Meijer told FOX-17 that any employees who are considered high risk for COVID-19 under CDC guidelines will continue to be paid.
The store has been deep cleaned and sanitized and will remain open.
Over the past week, Meijer has worked to implement new procedures to help slow the spread of COVID-19 and keep their employees and customers safe. These new measures include:
- Asking customers to limit the number of shoppers who come into the store on each trip.
- Conducting health screenings and temperature checks for employees before every shift.
- And adding signage and broadcast announcements inside the store educating customers about proper social distancing.
The CDC is also recommending that everyone wear cloth masks while doing things like grocery shopping.
