Swings can be a tough one for kiddos. I've experienced it with my three nieces, who are two, four, and eight. The four-year-old is a little two big for the "baby seat" but not quite sure about the "big kid" swing yet. The two-year-old wants to swing like her sisters, but doesn't love being in the seat by herself.

Here's the solution!

Lamar Park in Wyoming has gotten new playground equipment with some unique swings!

The "parent/guardian and child together swing" is the first of its kind in Wyoming, Mich., according to the Parks and Rec Department. What a good idea! Have you seen swings like this before? I haven't!

The orange swings in the middle look larger than your average "baby seat", but still provide some security - so I think they'd be perfect for my four-year-old niece!

Additional upgrades to Lamar Park include a fort with a viewing platform, new covered benches, and improved safety surfacing.

The project cost $102,436, and was made possible by the parks and recreation operations millage.

Lamar Park is located at 2561 Porter St. SW in Wyoming.

Lamar Park also features picnic shelters, sand volleyball courts, basketball courts, climbing wall, tennis courts, softball and baseball fields, and a splash pad.

Other recent upgrades to area parks include huge climbing/ bouldering walls at Highland Park, an accessible kayak launch at Riverside Park, and a new hammock grove and butterfly garden at Briggs Park.
