It is a somewhat happy day for Walmart shoppers!

If you are a customer of Walmart stores, you could be eligible to get up to $500 from a class-action lawsuit in 2022.

Walmart agreed to pay out $45 million.

If you have shopped certain citrus products between the dates of October 19, 2018, and January 19, 2024, you could be eligible!

There is a caveat to everything...

You will also need to provide proof of your receipts from your Walmart purchases. If you have your receipt, you can get anywhere up to $500 from the settlement.

If you do not have your receipts, you can still get anywhere between $10 and $25.

What Did Walmart Do To Have To Pay People?

Well, your guess is better than my guess.

Walmart did not explain what they did in the lawsuit, but that they would settle for $45 million.

However, it seems like certain grocery items were mislabeled, specifically the citrus fruits so Walmart has to make up for that.

The lawsuit states that Walmart,

".....inflated the weight of certain grocery items, mislabeled the weight of bagged produce--including oranges, grapefruit, and tangerines--and overcharged for sold-by-weight clearance products, there forcing customers to pay more for them than their lowest advertised price."

 

Sadly, not everyone is eligible and it could take months to receive any money since the settlement needs a final approval.
