21 Savage Approves of Jay Z Referencing Him on DJ Khaled’s “Shining”
It appears as though 21 Savage has given Jay Z's recent name-reference on DJ Khaled's Hov and Beyonce-assisted new song "Shining" his stamp of approval.
On the new banger, Jigga raps, "I’ve been winnin’ so long it’s like alchemy/I’ve been playin’ cards with the house money/21 Grammys, I’m a savage nigga/21 Grammys, I’m a savage nigga."
The Savage Mode rapper is a fan of the shout-out. Hopping on Snapchat, the Atlanta MC posted video of himself jamming to the new track, especially the part where his name is mentioned.
DJ Khaled captured the video, posting it to his own Instagram page, along with the caption, "@21savage viben to my new single #djkhaled feat Beyoncé and Jay z #SHINING."
That wasn't the only subliminal dropped on the track. Another slick line has many people thinking Hov is checking someone with his bars. In his last verse, Hov spits, “I shouldn’t even worry, backward niggas/12 solo albums, all platinum, nigga/I know you ain’t out here talkin’ numbers, right?/I know you ain’t out here talkin’ summers, right?/I know you ain’t walkin’ ’round talkin’ down/Sayin’ boss shit when you a runner, right?”
Most think the jab is for Drake, in response to Aubrey's "Summer Sixteen" line, “I used to wanna be on Roc-A-Fella then I turned into Jay.”
But this is Hov, so who knows. Check out 21 Savages response to the plug below.
