First Ever Adult Only Book Fair Is Coming To West Michigan
If you have ever wanted to go to a book fair that is only catered to adults who are misrepresented or not represented in books, you are going to love what is coming to Grand Rapids this weekend!
It is literally a bookworm's paradise.
Adult Only Book Fair
The adult-only book fair, Book-ish, is focused entirely on healing, art, and literature.
It will be happening this Sunday, June 11th from 11 AM until 2 PM at the Center of Community Transformation on Madison Avenue SE in Grand Rapids.
According to the Book-ish organizers, the free event will cater to all book lovers and fanatics who are 21 and up.
ABC 13 says that it will
"also serve as a positive experience for people who may not feel well represented in books or those who may not always have the financial resources to enjoy books."
Since the event is catered to people who do not feel represented in books, it is super amazing that Book-ish partnered with a Black-owned bookstore.
The books will be provided by We Are Lit GR, which is located in the Grand Rapids African American Museum.
Another amazing aspect of the event is that proceeds from the sales will benefit The Diatribe, which is an organization that
"use restorative art to disrupt historical systems of oppression by reimagining education, holistically honoring the community through our approach to our work and creating an unapologetic vision for liberation that is accessible to all."
Besides the books, there will be a DJ, live painting, live poetry, food trucks, and even a mimosa, Bloody Mary, and a coffee bar!
Why would you not want to come out to this?
