Beyoncé Donates $100,000 in Scholarship Funding to Michigan Technology College
Renaissance Scholars Program
According to her foundation, BeyGood's website,
"To continue Mrs. Carter's history of support for student education, we introduce the RENAISSANCE Scholars. Education has always been a focus pillar for Mrs. Carter. After announcing her highly anticipated RENAISSANCE World Tour, she committed $1M to support education through the RENAISSANCE Scholars program to impact 10 Colleges/Universities worldwide, where 100 students will receive $10,000 scholarships."
Beyoncé Michigan Donation
The superstar's BeyGood foundation donated $100,000 in scholarship funding for 10 students at the Detroit School for Digital Technology as part of her Renaissance Scholars Program. According to the Detroit Free Press, a rep for Beyoncé says,
"We were delighted to spend the morning with the Detroit School for Digital Technology, and announce that @dsdttech will receive 100K in Renaissance scholarship funds to support students with financial needs. Your commitment to education and elevating your students and communities inspires us. To the Renaissance superstars, we appreciate you taking time out of your busy tour schedules to share your journeys. Your presence was a gift!"
Besides this Detroit college, the foundation has also supported:
Prairie View A&M University
Jackson State University
Alabama State University
Grambling State University
Institut Français de la Mode
There is also a plan to donate to a college in Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.
