Bill Passes In Senate To Officially Name Michigan Residents As ‘Michiganders’
It's almost official, Michigan residents will soon be known as "Michiganders". So, if you've been calling people "Michiganians", you're doing it wrong. Senate Bill No. 562 passed in the Senate yesterday and is on its way to the Governor to be signed into law.
The bill that this motion was attached to is the "Michigan historical markers act", which was designed to layout guidelines for historical markers throughout the state. But section (1) of Article (I) makes us all Michiganders: "MICHIGANDER" MEANS A RESIDENT OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN.
So what do you think about this new "law", are we actually Michiganders or do you want to be called a Michiganian? Vote in our poll below!
