Grand Rapids is saying goodbye to another restaurant.

Fox 17 reports that after more than seven years, El Barrio Mexican Grill on Michigan Street has closed as of Monday.

Owners Brad Rosely and David Levitt and Restaurant Partners Management Company owner Jeff Lobdell posted an announcement to Facebook,

In 2010 El Barrio Mexican Grill opened with the intent of providing the Mid Towne neighborhood with a high quality restaurant and a great spot for families to enjoy a meal. We are proud to say that over the last seven years, we have served over 700,000 meals to our guests and maintained a 99 percent customer satisfaction (based on surveys)... However, the time has come to close El Barrio Mexican Grill and prepare for a new opportunity at this space.

They say that El Barrio empoloyees have been offered opportunities to apply to other Restaurant Partners locations, which include the Omelette Shoppe, Beltine Bar, Grand Coney, and Sundance Grill.

It has not been revealed what will replace El Barrio on Michigan Street, but the owners say they "look forward to the new opportunity that awaits this location."

Last week a new development broke ground in a nearby location. The development on the northeast corner of Michigan and Diamond NE includes 165 apartments, and ground floor retail space, Fox 17 reports.
