Firekeepers Casino Closing Due to Coronavirus Concerns
Firekeepers Casino and Hotel in Battle Creek announced that they will be closing their doors at 3 a.m. on Monday, March 16, to help slow the spread of COVID-19, Fox 17 reports.
Firekeepers said in a statement that their primary focus is to protect the health of guests and employees:
Effective March 16, 2020, at 3 a.m., FireKeepers Casino Hotel will close in an effort to control the spread of the virus. We are taking this action as responsible business leaders within the Michigan community and as one of the largest employers in the region. We will continue to monitor and comply with all orders, directives, instructions and/or recommendations made by government agencies and will advise guests once a reopen date has been established.
All scheduled entertainment has been postponed and all marketing events, promotions and offers are canceled.
Friday, March 13, Governor Gretchen Whitmer issued a ban on gatherings over 250 people. In addition, the CDC is recommending that for the next 8 weeks, gatherings of 50 or more people be canceled or postponed.
