The city of Grand Rapids (honestly, West Michigan as a whole) is trapped between construction, closed streets, and detours.

It seems like there is another situation and event that will be causing some issues for Grand Rapids commuters.

Have you heard about it?

Why Will Grand Rapids' 28th Street Will Be A Nightmare?

If you did not know, Grand Rapids' 28th Street is one of the busiest streets in the city. With the Gerald R. Ford International Airport, Woodland Mall, and restaurants and businesses galore, there is a lot of commuter traveling that happens on that street.

There is a huge event that will be taking up a huge amount of 28th Street next week.

The 19th Annual 28th Street Metro Cruise is happening on August 23rd and 24th.

If you have plans on Friday, August 23rd, and Saturday, August 24th that require you to use 28th Street as your route, you may want to find another way to get around.

From the map provided in their official booklet, I can only imagine that a significant amount of 28th Street will be backed up with traffic.

It seems like all of 28th Street from US-131 and I-196 towards Grandville and Wyoming will most likely be congested with traffic.

As the event continues to grow closer, I can imagine that alternate routes and detours may be announced due to the traffic surge.

Did you know about this upcoming event? How is this event going to affect your commute on 28th Street?
