Flights Out Of Grand Rapids Affected By Major Outage
Are you going on a trip today? Taking a quick flight out of Grand Rapids?
There is a chance that your flight may be delayed or not happening!
Why?
Flights Affected By Major Cyberattack
Early on Friday, July 19th, a global technology outage affected most flights arriving or leaving from the Gerald R. Ford International Airport.
The Grand Rapids airport is not the only one affected by this outage. Thousands of airports are also impacted.
The airport shared that the Federal Aviation Administration forced ground stops for multiple airlines due to the outage.
CrowdStrike, the cybersecurity firm, believes it is not a cyberattack, although, many people speculate this on social media.
With this outage, the airport advises that all passengers continue to check their airline's official website for any updates on flight statuses.
You should also contact the airline directly if you have issues with the flight delays or cancellations.
This outage has also affected banks, media outlets, and companies like Corewell Health, whose computers and systems were affected causing delays to appointments and procedures.
What Flights Are Cancelled Or Delayed?
This is the big question for many travelers today!
Thank goodness for the airport's online flight tracker!
The Gerald R. Ford International Airport's online flight tracker reports that some Allegiant, American, Delta, Frontier, and United flights have been canceled or delayed.
As of publication time, it is still unknown when all flights will get back on track with taking off. This means some passengers are grabbing nearby hotel rooms and/or rental cars.
