Griffins Announce Jersey Contest Winner
With the season opener a little over a month away, the Grand Rapids Griffins have chosen a winner in their annual fan designed jersey contest. Well, I should say the fans of a certain web site have chosen.
For the third year in a row, the Griffins have asked fans to design an alternate jersey for the team to wear in a special game this season. The contest was carried out on a national level. Entries were submitted to the web site Uni-Watch (a site devoted to the 'obsessive study of athletic aesthetics'), and they announced the winner, decided by a vote of their readers, this week.
The winning entry is this one, submitted by Matthew Harvey of Ogden, Utah.
It's a 'Dark Night' themed jersey after the visuals from the Batman movies.
The team will the special jerseys on December 28, where Matt will receive his own version of the jersey. The game worn jerseys will later be auctioned off for charity.
