It's a whole new world. Thanks to holographic technology, Roy Orbison and Buddy Holly will perform in Grand Rapids this fall. Even though they've been dead for awhile.

BASE Hologram has announced that the Roy Orbison and Buddy Holly Rock 'n' Roll Dream Tour will stop in Grand Rapids at DeVos Performance Hall on October 27 at 7:30pm. Tickets go on sale today at Ticketmaster.com.

The concerts will feature a live band and back up singers accompanying holographic depictions of Holly, circa 1957 when he was at the top of his game, and a late model version of Orbison, who resurrected his career in the late 1980s.

Here's a look at the Buddy Holly hologram test from BASE. It takes a little time to get used to it, but if that era of music is your bag, it may be worth a ticket.

And here's the Roy Orbison hologram, which has already toured with the BASE 'In Dreams' tour.

“These men weren’t just one thing - they were artists in every sense of the word,” said BASE Hologram CEO of Production Marty Tudor. “Like Roy, Buddy has a truly impressive songbook, and in many cases, audiences may not have realized he was the one behind so many hits. Part of the beauty of these productions is we get to share the legacy of these performers and remind people the full range of their talent.”

So when will the hologram Beatles be touring? When Yoko needs the money?
