I'm sure he was waiting his whole life for this moment when he could use his replica battle axe and pretend it was real. Wednesday was that day.

So there he was, watching 'Rick and Morty' while simultaneously playing video games, when an attacker blasted open the door to his apartment.

'Grab the battle axe!' he yelled. Okay, he didn't really, but he could have.

According to WOOD-TV 8, Ben Ball grabbed a replica battle axe that he uses for live action role playing and swung it around fast enough to squash the attacker.

“(The) door opened, (I) grabbed the axe, (then) step, step, hit. There was a bloody mess everywhere,” Ball told WOOD-TV 8.

Although it was a replica, the battle axe struck the assailant hard enough in the torso to injure him.

The 33 year old suspect was later apprehended and is currently lodged in the Kalamazoo County Jail awaiting assault charges.

Ball owns a lot of weaponry that he keeps around his apartment, like the kind Vikings and Barbarian warriors used.

When he’s not working at Applebees, he participates in events where people compete in ritualized combat.

“I’ve got a double-headed carbon steel battle axe that was homemade by a gentleman who has since passed. That’s what I call my baby,” Ball said.

That pretty explains it all.

And it's not going to be surprising to anyone that Ball himself has been in trouble with the law for flinging around his weapon. This time, it was the right time.
