Kim Kardashian has come under fire for being compassionate to a YouTube star/makeup artist who once said racists and derogatory comments about black and Mexican people in decade-plus old videos.

On Monday (Aug. 14), Kim went on her Snapchat page to joke about how Jeffree Star is criticizing her about her "swatch skills." Fans then questioned Kim on why she is still friends with Star after he made those racist videos from 12 years ago.

"I get it's a serious deal if you say racial things, but I do believe in people changing, and people that apologize, I will give them the benefit of the doubt," she explained on her Snapchat. "I know better than anyone that I hate when people bring up my past or mistakes I've made in the past. So let him live."

"I want to make one last thing clear, I do not defend people that are racist and I am very against it," she continued. "But if someone claims that they have changed, I would love to give them the benefit of the doubt, and I pray to God that they do change for the sake of my children and my friends."

This didn't sit well with people on Twitter. Some folks criticized Kim for caring more about her swatch skills than comments made by a supposed bigot. For the record, Star has since apologized for his racist comments in the past.

"Kim K., like so many other white women who have black children/spouses, has the luxury of overlooking racism when it's convenient for her," wrote one user. Another person tweeted, "Kim K, a non black person, is telling us to get over racist remarks jeffree starr made towards black people bc he criticized her swatches?"
