The Grand Rapids Business Journal reports that Le Kabob Express is moving into the hospital's food court, replacing Smashburger.

The 973-square-foot eatery will open at the end of the month, joining Qdoba, Zoup and Starbucks in the Spectrum Health food court at Michigan St. NE.

In early January, Le Kabab shared that the new space was under construction.

Le Kabab serves scratch-made traditional Mediterranean favorites and creative combinations. On their menu you'll find Shish Tawook (marinated, charbroiled chicken breast skewers), Shish Kafta (ground meat with parsley, onions and spices), Chicken or Beef Shwarma (shaved, seasoned meat off a rotisserie), a variety of Hummus dishes, and more. At their current locations, Le Kabab's entrees include a choice of rice, fries, grilled veggies, or a mix of two choices, plus a choice of soup or a house salad. They offer lunch combinations as well.

There are two other Le Kabab restaurants in the Grand Rapids area, on Byron Center Ave in Wyoming and on 28th St. in Kentwood.

Le Kabab owner Ameer Algahim tells GRBJ,

We are excited to add a location in downtown Grand Rapid. I believe our healthy offerings will be a fantastic addition to the other restaurants within Spectrum Health, the Medical Mile and the downtown core.

At the end of 2021, Algahim shared to Facebook,

Thank you for being such valued customers. With all your support, we are happy to share with you that we are opening a new location on 25 Michigan St.! Without your continuous support we would not have been able to accomplish this success! We just want to thank our community!
