Madcap Coffee Closes Downtown Market Location
Trevor Corlett, Madcap's founder and CEO made the announcement Monday on Facebook saying the closure is a "result of the pandemic and many other external factors."
Corlett thanks customers, staff, and fellow tenants at the market and goes on to say,
We’ve learned a lot about service and experience in our time there, and have worked hard to apply these lessons to other parts of our business. We are sad to say goodbye to a space we cared so deeply for, but are excited for what future may hold."
Founded in 2008, Madcap has two other locations in Grand Rapids: on Fulton St. and on Monroe Center. Madcap also has a coffee shop in Detroit.
Their Monroe Center location was damaged during a riot downtown Grand Rapids May 30th. The next day Madcap shared their gratitude on Facebook to those who had come to help repair the damage; they remained open that day and serving the public. Following a brief closure, the coffee shop reopened June 8. As with many of the downtown businesses that were damaged, an artist has painted a mural on the plywood covering Madcap's broken windows.
