There's now another spot in Grand Rapids the kids can keep cool this summer.

The Alger Heights neighborhood just opened their first splash pad, reports FOX 17. This one is located at the middle school and includes several spray features and hoops. In addition, there's now more seating for picnics and the restrooms, lighting, and landscaping were all updated.

FOX 17 says this was made possible by a millage passed in 2013.

If you ask me, this is one of the cooler (no pun intended) splash pads in the city since it features more than just spraying water. There are a total of 14 splash pads in the city of Grand Rapids and all are open for the season from 10a-9p daily. You can find a list of them here. It doesn't matter where you live, splash pads are free to everyone!

While the splash pads are open, the same can't be said about the city pools which will sadly remain closed for the 2020 season.

I know splash pads are normally meant for kids but is it weird for a short 32-year-old woman to run through one? Given this heat wave we're currently going through, it's very tempting to give it a go.

One final reminder, don't forget to continue social distancing if you're there with people not from your household.
