New Whole Foods Store in Grand Rapids Opens on Wednesday
Grand Rapids area residents have been waiting patiently for the new Whole Foods store near 28th Street in Kentwood. On Wednesday, August 17th, 2022, that store will be open for business!
It was way back in December of 2020 that it was announced that Whole Foods Market would be opening a store in the West Michigan area. Shortly after the announcement a Whole Foods Market sign appeared at Radclifff Plaza, a 28th Street strip mall near Guitar Center by Woodland Mall. The official address for the store is 2897 Radcliff Ave S.E. in Kentwood. WOOD TV-8 reports that the company signed a 20 year lease for that space.
The New Store is the 8th Whole Foods Market in Michigan
The other stores in Michigan include one at 2750 Grand River Avenue in East Lansing, along with two stores in Ann Arbor and four locations around the Detroit area.
What Features will the New Whole Foods Have?
We won't know for sure until we get inside the new store, however the original plans showed an outdoor patio, indoor dining, and a bar area along with departments for fresh produce and prepared food. The plans also included a bakery, a coffee counter, a salad bar, and a pizza station!
The Whole Foods Market History
The very first Whole Foods opened in 1980. It was a small store in Austin, Texas. There are now over 500 stores not only in North America, but also the UK...and now finally one in the Grand Rapids area!
The Whole Foods Market website says:
We seek out the finest natural and organic foods available, maintain the strictest quality standards in the industry, and have an unshakeable commitment to sustainable agriculture. Add to that the excitement and fun we bring to shopping for groceries, and you start to get a sense of what we’re all about. Oh yeah, we’re a mission-driven company too.
Mark your calendar for Wednesday, August 17th and we will see you at the new Whole Foods Market in Kentwood!
