Pet Foster Families Needed During Allegan Co. Shelter Repairs
More than 100 animals will need homes as the Allegan County Animal Shelter undergoes repairs beginning Jan. 19.
Wood TV 8 reports that the repairs to the shelter's floors are state mandated. While the state is covering the cost of repairs, it's up to the nonprofit that runs the shelter, Wishbone Pet Rescue Alliance to find a place to go for all of the animals in their care.
The shelter’s director Susan Smith said their budget for boarding the cats and dogs is limited, so that is why they really need the help of the community.
The construction is expected to take 4 to 6 weeks. It's free to foster an animal and the shelter will cover the cost of food and healthcare. Those looking to foster must live in the West Michigan area.

If you're unable to foster a pet, you can still help by donating to the cause here. Without foster families, the cost of boarding the animals would be $10,000. An anonymous donor has said if the shelter can raise $5,000, he or she will match it to make up the rest.
